At the end of this week, my former organization is shutting down entirely and as part of that, they are shutting down their Dropbox Business plan.
I'm one of the people who will be keeping an archive.
I am currently in their Team via my personal account, and I intend to buy Dropbox Plus plan to handle the ~750GB of files.
I am trying to do two things:
- move my personal files to a personal account
- move organizational folders to which i've been granted "limited access" to a personal account
Because I am in their Team via my personal account, i can't use the "link accounts" feature.
What steps do i take to migrate my account and all the files i currently have access to, both personal and organizational?
Thanks!
Yes, on a Dropbox Business team, the personal folder would be one with your name on it, on which only you have access. This means the folder is private and not in shared folders.
The next steps are correct, copy everything necessary there, and once you have it, the admin would be able to convert you to a personal account.

Hi @EnormousTortoise, thanks for messaging the Community.
If you're a member of the Dropbox Business team, then it isn't a personal account, but a business account. If you had another account which isn't part of a team, then you can link the accounts.
Assuming you only have one account, what you can do is move all the files to your personal folder on the team. Once you're certain you have everything, you can ask the team admin to convert your account to a personal plan.
This will return the account to a personal plan, so you can then upgrade it to a Plus plan afterwards.
If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

Thank you, this really helps and clarifies the situation.
Could i check with you if my "personal folder" is the folder with my name on it that is sublabeled "Only you have access" ?
If so, shall i make copies of the organizational files there, and then once everything is there, ask to convert my account to a personal plan?
