Issue when renaming files in Windows, since it takes over the name

Issue when renaming files in Windows, since it takes over the name

Hi. We love Dropbox but there is one issue that I can't seem to rectify.

scenario:  I create a new file and click 'save-as', then I open a folder in which to save it. The destination folder has other files in it.  If I'm not doing lightning speed the new file takes the name of a file that I've cruised over.

At first, I thought that this was a 'Windows' problem in their settings but after a ton of checking, I found that it was only happening in my and my wife's Dropbox folder.  I hate this feature SOOO much...(my wife doesn't love it even worse...LOL). Is there any way at all that I can turn this off? I couldn't find the toggle anywhere. I guarantee that absolutely no one wants this feature. I can't imagine why anybody would have use for this. You should maybe put a toggle in the user 'settings'.

Please help us with this.  There are probably others complaining about this. So just add us to the pile...LOL

Thanks so much

Have a GREAT DAY

Jim

Hi. If I'm wrong and there is no actual toggle to remove the above issue, please talk to your IT specialist. This is derived from a single line of code which should be like ( .class name: hover). If your specialist just 'comments' this line out it will only affect what is scheduled under the 'class name' in the HTML file.

Simple 5-minute solution...problem solved.

If you don't like it or think your specialist has done this in error, it can be easily commented back in with no repercussions.

Thanks

Jim

Hi @5rosedale50, how are you today?

Is this behavior that you noticed when saving files, only apparent within your Dropbox folder?

Do you think you could send me a couple of screenshots, in order for me to have a visual of this too?

Keep me posted!
