I'm a long term DB user and currently have a Business standard account
Today would share access with rights to edit a file with a friend, who has a free account
But I was then asked to add this person to my team and was thereby charged for adding a new full member of my Business account
That seems insane - can someone please convince me that this is not Dropbox policy!

You invited them to join your team, rather than inviting them to a shared folder.

Hi Rich
Nope, I didn't invite her to join the team, just to share a folder. But I got a warning about her email was not recognized as a team member mail...

Is the ability to share with people outside of your team enabled? Check the second link I posted.
