I just did the uninstall/reinstall through google play.

It's the exact same version.  62.2.4

"Keep the Dropbox App Running in the Foreground" is *NOT* a solution to "background uploads do not work". .... you are hilarious pretending it is.

I refuse to believe that Google has completely disabled the ability of an app to synchronize. Why? Because other apps are still able to do it. If you have incompetent developers that can't figure this out after six months FIRE THEM and hire ones who know what they are doing.

I have found that the only way to upload files now is to manually select them for upload, keep Dropbox running in the foreground, and change your screen timeout settings to maximum. If the screen goes black, the upload restarts. This has been a super pain as I upload between 5 and 50 pics per day for work. My subscription is up soon, so I will be looking for an alternative.

So, now that I've been testing my previous so called "solution", I have to admit that calling in Mr McMahon and having him yell "YOU'RE FIRED!!!" does sound like a good solution.
The solution I mentioned works until:

* the battery percentage goes beyond the limit on the settings menu (charging does not fix the problem...!)

OR

* The app is somehow put in a magical hibernation (which it refuses to wake up from without restarting the phone and taking a new picture) by the system if it does not upload any pictures / videos / files for an uncertain amount of time.

Which one of these comes first is 50/50... (hurray!)

The problem for me is that Googles own Photos app does not have any problems at all. Further on, my own app (an app that continously tracks the phone and uploads its location to a server) is also working as a service in the background without having such issues.

So, come on Dropbox... This sure can't be rocket science. Either you make it work, or get some help from people who knows (contact Google, they might be able to help you out. Hey, even Facebook and Twitter have figured this one out a long time ago...!)

My subscription ends in the beginning of 2018. If no fix is applied by then, then goodbye Dropbox and hello Google..!

Wow. How is this not a top-of-the-pile priority for Dropbox? Nougat has been out for over a year now and a company with the notoriety of Dropbox can't get this to work? This thread should not still be growing. It should be marked as solved. It's moved beyond inexcusable and into the realm of pathetic. Sheesh, guys.

Hey @zeeh1975 , I can't give you any quick-fire answers but I can give you a list of some things to try. If none fix then you'll need to lodge a support quest with us so we can dig deeper. If any work they should atleast point to the root cause.

Have you tried the following, I'm curious to the results:

- Disabling the screenlock to see if upload continues then?
-Does clearing either the app data in-app or app data on phone help?

- Does this issue affect all or just some file types?

- Does it replicate on mobile AND wifi networks, or just one?
- If you try a new network does it persist?

If you submit a support request with the answers to the above + screenshots of what your dong then Support or myself should be able to quickly pinpoint the root cause.

Many thanks.

Hey everyone,

Have you given any of @Ross_S’s suggestions a try, or have you logged a support request? We’d like to know, so get back to us when you can.

Also, there’s a new version of our mobile app available here (64.3). I wonder if anybody has had a chance to try this with better results.

Thanks!
