Whatever... the response (your response) came from Dropbox's ZenDesk (Helpdesk!) address so not entirely unreasonable for it to seem at least to have come from... a developer's helpdesk.

Gotta go get the vacuum out now, someone through bread crumbs on the floor!

I solved the problem with excluding the dropbox folder from windows defender. (Windows 10, v1511)
