Why do others get 'out of space' messages when uploading to a folder I shared with them?

Why do others get 'out of space' messages when uploading to a folder I shared with them?

I got dropbox so we could have family members uploading to the same folder. My plus account worked for a while for this purpose but now it’s telling everybody that I have run out of space when that is not true now I find out that I have to send a request every time someone wants to upload some thing, which means that the error message is incorrect and unhelpful. It’s also unhelpful and helping me figure out if I have the wrong plan, and the chat bot is not a very good salesman so I am going to be looking for other options on the market for file sharing the system you have is pretty ridiculous

What would really be great is if you all spent more time focusing on the customer. Earlier in the day I had a few simple questions that could’ve been answered on the phone with a good support agent, but you don’t have that. I still don’t understand why you have to send a file request so someone can upload something to your folder. The error message my family has been seeing says the space is full not that they don’t have access or need a request link so rather than spend your time talking about cheesy puns it might be good to focus on your business more and making people happy that are paying customers.

Hey @Tom P, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this and happy Monday!

It sounds like you're utilizing a shared folder to do this, in which case all  members of the shared folder have to have enough storage space in their Dropbox account to accommodate the share without getting the messages you mentioned.

In that case, you can use shared links to share files or folders with view-only rights which won't be affecting the others and, when you need others to upload to your account, you can use file requests instead.

I hope this clears things up and please let us know if you have anything else to add or ask.
