shorcut folder access permission different between mac and pc

shorcut folder access permission different between mac and pc

I'm using Dropbox in a team and I'm having an issue when creating a shortcut folder.

Some PC user teammates aren't given access to the folder (the icon seems off too, it's a blank paper, not a yellow folder with an arrow) I created (I'm a Mac user) However, they can access the original paths to that folder.

Is anybody else having this issue?

Hey @yeonjae, thanks for reaching out to our Community.

Can you please clarify where this shortcut folder is pointing to?

If it's pointing to a folder on your own computer, it won't work for other computers, only for you.

Is it pointing to a folder inside or outside the Dropbox folder?

Any additional info would be helpful.

Thanks!

Hello@Hannah

Thanks for the quick reply 🙂

The folder I'm trying to share is all created inside the Dropbox.

(Our design team which all use Mac doesn't seem to have the issue, the sharing works fine with them. Only the PC-using team can't access them)

I've attached a screenshot from my teammate's monitor view, the pink-marked item is the folder I'm trying to share. I've copied it from another Dropbox path (command+option+drag).

Thanks!

Thanks for this info, @yeonjae.

Can you give us a bit more info, for example, are you and your team or a Dropbox Business team or are you using individual Dropbox accounts?

If your teammates mark the file as "available offline", can they open it?

And what's their Dropbox app version and sync status, when hovering over their Dropbox icon?
