A large 116 gig file just disappeared - Can I restore it somehow?

A large 116 gig file just disappeared - Can I restore it somehow?

I cannot find my movie file. I searched in Deleted and Moved and searched everywhere to no avail. A few months ago it was there and now it isn't. I have no clue what happened to it.
I am having a lot of trouble with DropBox help. Today I keep getting a robot to chat with and yesterday Pete dropped the chat. Question: Does DropBox keep files anywhere? Is there anyway it could be "dug up"?
Thanks.

Hi @JenAnneS

Have you tried to search for it by name?

Dropbox cannot just delete things, so, if its gone missing its been removed or deleted by somebody or something.

The other place to check is www.dropbox.com/events

p.s. Is there any way DropBox could still find it somewhere in their storage?

No. If it's not showing in your account (either in Files or Deleted Files), then it's no longer stored with Dropbox and cannot be recovered. Have you followed @Mark's advice and checked your Events page for any information on what happened to the file? Have you checked Deleted Files?

Yes. Thank you very much.

DropBox sees that back in May it was deleted by another user. I was hoping that they would be able to see who that user was.

Hey @JenAnneS, I hope you don’t mind me jumping in.

Do you remember whether this file was shared with a specific user perhaps, apart from you?
