Delete, edit, and organize
Solve issues with deleting, editing, and organizing files and folders in your Dropbox account with support from the Dropbox Community.
I have started using Dropbox a few months ago. All the files on my PC desktop were automatically synced after I installed the app, which was not what I wanted. I paused the synced since the storage was full and the app kept asking for an account upgrade. I would like to delete files that been synced from my desktop in Dropbox, but I accidentally deleted the desktop folder in Dropbox. I noticed right away that all my files were gone permanently from my PC desktop, and I couldn’t find them anywhere in my computer. I went to Deleted Files in Dropbox and restored the deleted files, but only 2GB files that’s been synced could be restored. I have had many many more files on my desktop but I don’t know where to bring them back. Can you help me on that? Thank you!
Hi @Lynnua; thanks for joining our Community and happy Monday!
I'm not sure if this is the case, but is it possible that you enabled the computer backup feature on your computer upon installing or setting up our desktop app?
Regarding your deleted files, can you locate them on our website, be it in your deleted files page or even the events page?
If you can't find any sign of them on our website, you may need to look for them locally on your computer; perhaps in your recycle bin?
In any case, please keep me posted!

I'm not sure there's much to do from our side, if those files never made it to our servers that is, but I'll be happy to forward this to our Restorations team in the hopes they'll have a better idea on this @Lynnua.
To do so, may I reach out via the email address that's connected to your Community's profile?
