Delete, edit, and organize
Solve issues with deleting, editing, and organizing files and folders in your Dropbox account with support from the Dropbox Community.
So basically, I was on dropbox and accidentally clicked something that then backed all my files from my computer to dropbox. I tried deleting them from dropbox, thinking they were also still on my computer, but that is not the case. Is there anyway I can get these files off dropbox and back onto my computer?
Hey @The Daily Friz, I hope you're well today!
I would suggest starting out with disabling the computer backup, if you haven't already. You can do this with the steps outlined towards the bottom of this article.
Once the backup is disabled, you can move the files from the "My PC/Mac" folder back to the original locations on your computer.
Let me know how it goes!

I have recently replaced my computer and need to take the backed up files assigned to the old one and put on my hard drive. I have just set up the new computer 'documents' file to back up to Dropbox. Do I need to disable the back up of the old files or since I'm just trying to restore those files to my new computer, can I just drop them in the 'documents' on the new computer's hard drive?
Hey there @GmaYaYa; I'm sorry to jump in here.
Could you clarify if you're referring to the computer backup feature or installing our desktop application on a new computer and letting it sync perhaps?
