Can only edit my Dropbox on 1 of my 3 computers.

Can only edit my Dropbox on 1 of my 3 computers.

I have 3 computers with dropbox, but can only make entries on one of them.  Until recently, I could go into any of the 3, open a file and make entries.

The first image shows the file on the Dropbox site, where you can't edit it.

The second is when you open it in Excel on your computer. Are you not opening the file in Excel on the one computer?

I am not actually opening Excel on any computer when I go into Dropbox.  On my primary computer, when I open Dropbox, then open an Excel file, it automatically opens Excel.  But not so on my two other computers.  It used to do so.

until recently, when I had Geek Squad do some work, I could go to any one of my 3 computers, open Dropbox on the desktop, open any of my 3-4 documents (Excel or Word), and make changes.

Have you tried manually opening Excel on that computer to edit the file?

I can open Excel, call up the document, make changes.

On my primary computer I can then open Dropbox, click on that document which opens in Excel and there is the change, and I can then continue to  edit.

I then go to another computer, open Dropbox, click on that document, simply get a view of that document with the changes, but it isn't opened in Excel

so,, for whatever reason, Dropbox associates with Excel and Word on my primary computer when I open Dropbox.  But not so on the other two computers.

I am thinking Geek Squad did something to disassociate Dropbox from other software.

...on those two computers.

This would be related to your OS in this instance. Have you tried changing the default program used to open files?
