Deleted file not in delete folder

Deleted file not in delete folder

Hello! Today I was using a PowerPoint presentation at work that I made and saved to my Dropbox several days ago. PowerPoint had an issue, closed itself, and somehow deleted my presentation in the process. It is no longer in the Dropbox folder I saved it to, but it also isn't in my deleted files folder on Dropbox.

Additionally, the presentation is not in the recycle bin on my PC and even though it's listed as a recently opened file in my file finder, I am not able to open it because it says it was moved. When I right click and select "open file location," it takes me to the Dropbox folder where it is supposed to be located, but isn't located. I have talked to the IT department at my workplace, they searched my PC for the file, and they couldn't find it.

Is there anything I can do at this point to try and restore the file from Dropbox since it's not listed as a deleted file?

Hey there @ksander1az, let's see what we can find here.

Could you check your events page to see if there was a recent record of the file at all?

Was the desktop app running and syncing when you edited the file by any chance?

Any additional information would be super helpful.

Give me a shout whenever you have the chance to check this out, thanks!

It was in my events page from about a week ago so I was able to restore it from there. Thank you!

Hey @style LM, let's get right to it.

Were they a part of a shared folder that someone added you to?

Could you also make sure that you're looking through the correct account that should contain them?

You can check that by seeing which email you used to sign in with by going to your General tab

Hello Lucil,

Thank you for your response, yes it's a shared space were we add and remove documents but we checked with all the members and files that no one even opened in a while have been missing and we usually trace them back to who deleted them so we can restore them however there was the no trace of them anywhere.

Thank you again for your assistance.

Hey @style LM!

Kindly access your Home page, and use the search bar on the top, right part of the screen to look for any file names that you can't locate in the account. Do you have any results?

When was the last time you saw the content on the Website?

Keep me posted!
