Document Locking
Have a look at the Dropbox Badge. It is not perfect but may help.

Hi @AvTechNDT, in addition to what @Mark said, depending on your current plan, you might have access to the ability to lock files.
You could lock them temporarily file a file is being worked on, and once finished, you could unlock the file.
