Document Locking

Document Locking

Is there a way to prevent a document from being opened if another user already has it opened?

Example, Excel spreadsheet being shared by 10 users.  User4 has the document open for editing.  User7 tries to open same document but instead receives notice that User4 has the document open and must wait for that user to save and close the document.

Is there a way to accomplish this?

Have a look at the Dropbox Badge. It is not perfect but may help.

Hi @AvTechNDT, in addition to what @Mark said, depending on your current plan, you might have access to the ability to lock files

You could lock them temporarily file a file is being worked on, and once finished, you could unlock the file.
