DropBox Deleting/Eating Comments

DropBox Deleting/Eating Comments

I work for a company that heavily uses DropBox and incorporates DropBox comments into our workflow. We have had multiple reports of comments disappearing/getting eaten by DropBox/being automatically deleted, etc.

It's a recurring issue, but it used just to be one or two comments. Now, entire pages of comments aren't sticking. And it just keeps getting worse. Recently, comments on three whole, different files in a row disappeared.

They just disappear. There are no error messages or any indication that it happened. Just... poof.

Any solutions are much appreciated.

Are the files changing? Comments are specific to the version of a file that they were left on. If the file changes, the comments for the previous version of that file go away.

No. The files are the same.

Hey @After_Range, thanks for posting here today!

Can you open the files this has happened to, click on the three dots when previewing them and see if any of the comments have been disabled or hidden?

Keep me updated!

There are no disabled or hidden comments. The comments just, disappear.

Hey @After_Range, do you maybe have any screenshots?

A screenshot of a notification, showing that someone commented on the file, and then what you see on your end when you preview it would be amazing, if possible.

I can't provide any screenshots. Since it's not like any user intends to have their comments disappear. Also, people often find out a day or two later.

However, I can say that there are never any notifications. A comment gets posted. Then, when the user presses the left or right arrow to go to the next page and returns to the page with the comment, the comment is gone.

Hey @After_Range, can you try restoring any of the files to a previous version and check if you can see the files then?
