Files missing from shared folder

Files missing from shared folder

DavidHeim
Helpful | Level 5

I uploaded 91 image files to a folder that I shared. But now, when I open the folder on Dropbox, I see only 35 files in the folder. Where did the other files go and how can I recover them?

I solved the problem by buying more storage space. But thanks for your interest in my plight.

Hey @DavidHeim, I'd be more than happy to help look into this with you.

In general, you can restore deleted files by following these steps

However, to make sure that I have a better understanding of your concern, I'll just need a bit more information, such as:

  • What does your events page show in regards to these files?
  • Could it be that another user with edit rights deleted them?
  • How did you upload them and where are you trying to preview them from?

Keep me posted!

David didn't say that he deleted his own files.

He said that they were "gone--"

Is Dropbox "hiding" files from users who are not purchasing additional space?

I ask because I have a similar problem.

Was a dropbox business user & downgraded-- now,  30% of my files don't seem to be here.

Thanks for joining us here @Jilliankelly, and I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with this!

We wouldn't take any actions on your account or files, is it possible that these were shared folders?

Could you please check out your events page here and let me know if you see any actions related to the missing files?

Let me know what you find!
