Files on my account are not showing, but the shared links still work.

Hi

Can anyone help

I had a number of videos on my account I set up links to these and emailed links out , these linked files on my account still exist in the emails I sent and work but now I want to delete the files so they cannot be accessed by the links I sent out ,but the linked files are no longer in my dropbox account

My question is how are the links still working and what happened to the files in dropbox  and can the links be downloaded ? the links are about 18 months old

Am I right in thinking that these links need to be hosted in dropbox for the links to work?

Thankyou for your help

If a linked file is deleted from your account, the link will no longer work. If the link is still working, then the file is still in your account somewhere. You can look at your Links page to see all of the active links to files in your account. From there you can locate the file in your account or delete the link that's leading to it.

Hi Thanks for the reply

There is nothing in the links folder ,but the links still work on a email that's open in my email , is there customer support on dropbox that could help me find the files?

Thanks

Hi @blanka1, let's jump right into this!

Are you positive that the shared links were created from the same Dropbox account you're looking at?

Also, if you try to search for an example file name, of the content that you can see in the link, do you get any results?

Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!
