Freeing up the cache folder which is on a different drive

Freeing up the cache folder which is on a different drive

I was doing some cleaning up using a disk space manager program and I've noticed that Dropbox sitting on 11 GB. Knowing I dont have that much, I've decided to check the folder and it was from the cache folder. I've checked the contents in the folder and these were from a shared project I was a part of in the past.

So I have a configuration where I have my dropbox folder on the E: drive, but when I type "%HOMEPATH%\Dropbox\.dropbox.cache" in my file explorer, it takes me to my cache folder that is located on my C drive. So it seems like I have 2 cache folders or something. But I wasnt sure if I could nuke this E drive's cache folder safely and it will not impact the files on the shared files.

These shared files were from a project that I worked on in the past, but I've since left the project. I'm not sure if I'm still a "member" who has access to these shared files (not sure how to check. If I dont see it in my dropbox, does that mean I'm not a part of it?). But either way, I would like to delete these since 11GB is quite a big file size.

Hello @Menai, if your Dropbox sync is up to date, it is safe to nuke the cache folder. Usually Dropbox would clear it after certain time. You can read more here https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/desktop/cache-folder

The cache folder location is your Dropbox root folder, by default it is %HOMEPATH%\Dropbox\.dropbox.cache but if your Dropbox folder is located in E:\Dropbox, then it should be E:\Dropbox\.dropbox.cache
