How do I search deleted files?

How do I search deleted files?

I know one can access a list of deleted files and deleted files in Backups, but I cannot figure out how to search! It seems I must know the exact name of the file or folder to find it in the list to restore it. Thanks!

Hi @sprocket003, thanks for messaging the Community.

Currently, it isn't possible to search for files on the deleted files page, as it only shows the deletions in reverse chronological order.

If you wish, you can suggest this change for others to vote on, so the dev team can look into this in future!

Paid drop box user for over 6 years now... and you are telling me that the ONE time I need to recover a deleted folder of files that was deleted I can't actually search for that freaking folder name?  Currently I have HUNDREDS Of thousands of deleted files.  I see peopel have been complaining about this since 2019.  I also see Dropbox keeps touting the fact that they want to be the file recover option and even charge for it... and I pay for it.  But I can't FIND what I need to recover.  Folks... this is rediculous.  I have spent an hour of my life searching the forums only to just now find this out.  I want my 6 years of money back.  Sheeeeesh.

Thank you. I agree. Search seems like a basic and reasonable ask among deleted files. If I can search all my files, why can't I search deleted ones?

It's just rediculous.  I think this is finally my impetus to move out of dropbox and roll my own cloud solution with a NAS.  I had to drive 90mins one-way to get the file since it was a worst case work scenario and I was relying on dropbox as the  rescue in the event of this low chance event happening.  I still can't believe I can't SEARCH freaking deleted files by file name (and the issue was brought up in 2019 and now it's 2024) since the whole point of having hang over deleted files is recovery "just in case".  One of the selling points of me keeping dropbox and also paying for the extended versioning...which I haven't tried yet in an emergency but I guess I better since this most recent surprise....
