How to Get Back Regular Sync for Downloads Folder on macOS

How to Get Back Regular Sync for Downloads Folder on macOS

Hi everyone,

A while ago, the way folders sync changed. Now my Downloads folder is saved through Dropbox Backups. This is really inconvenient because I can't access these files easily on the mobile app or through a quick search (or maybe I don't know how? Please tell me if there's a way!).

I want to go back to the old way where all files synced instantly and were easy to access.

P.S. I also miss being able to share a file with a Dropbox link directly from the Downloads folder. This used to be an option in the right-click menu.

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

HI there @pukoboss - thanks for using Dropbox and welcome to the Community!

With the update you mentioned to the Dropbox Backup feature, it's true that you can't access your backed up files from the mobile app, but only though a web browser via the backups page

If you'd like a folder or files to sync normally instead of being backed up, you can copy or move them into your Dropbox folder and have the desktop app sync your changes.

From there you'd also be able to get shared links for the files you like.

I hope this helps!
