How to delete my dropbox files without deleting the associated files from my pc?

How to delete my dropbox files without deleting the associated files from my pc?

I basically don't want to use dropbox to sync my files - I only want to use it in specific cases - I don't want those dropbox folders on my pc.  I'm afraid if I delete them I will delete the files from my pc as well.   Am I able to do that if I just turn off SYNC?   and THEN delete the dropbox folders?

Hey @ruralwannabe, thanks for using Dropbox and welcome to our Community!

If you'd like to avoid syncing in general, you can unlink your account through the app's preferences and then uninstall the desktop app and access your Dropbox files only from the website. Just make sure that the app is 'up to date' and not still syncing when you do this.

Otherwise, you could use our selective sync feature which helps you save hard drive space by un-syncing folders from your computer.

I hope this helps!
