Delete, edit, and organize
Solve issues with deleting, editing, and organizing files and folders in your Dropbox account with support from the Dropbox Community.
I found an answer to my question posted by Daphne to Milqo on 07-27-2020, but the link to the steps to disable the backup and move files from the backup folder back to the original computer locations does not work. As well I’m unable to find any info at the bottom of the article that explains the steps either.
So am letting Daphne know that I am “still stuck” and that I’m finding it difficult to maneuver through this help community.

I have disabled PC backup, but still need to remove the already backed up files from Dropbox, without removing them from my PC. How do I do this?
I also regret having allowed Dropbox to start backing up my files. I disabled the feature and uninstalled the Dropbox app but My Documents have been moved to Dropbox/PC/My Documents and my own (system) My Documents folder has been replaced by a virtual link to the Dropbox folder. I want to compleatly disengage from Dropbox but I cant without loosing all my stuff! I can see that this has been happening for years - se https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-files-folders/Moving-My-Documents-OUT-of-dropbox/td-p/49327 but the "accepted solution" is simply a denial of the original posters problem. And what has happened to the "Submit a support ticket"? There seems to be no such animal now. I wish I had never heard of Dropbox!
Hello!
Nothing really happense. it is still just there.
I also tryit to delete, and read some guides, but nothing works.
Our whole PC synced to Dropbox and all of the information on here to un-sync it is conflicting.
There aren't any directions on here that leave me feeling confident that I am going to lose all of our personal files once the un-syncing is completed. The preferences feature in my account does not give an "Unsync Option"
No where can I find a very clear avenue to unsync my PC to dropbox without risking losing everything.
Dropbox: Please provide a current link (year 2022) to support on this issue so I can unsync my PC without it all being deleted.

You enabled the computer backup feature.
