I am over the limit and want to delete nearly all files and folders

I got a new iMac and stupidly set it up so Dropbox is part of my save routine.  MISTAKE!  I want to stop auto back up to Dropbox as well as clear files.  I think because there is no room in Dropbox, it's stopping my files from saving to my Mac -- where I want them -- or "saving as" a new filename --- particularly Excel files. HELP!

You can disable the computer backup feature, by following the steps outlined in this article.
