I'm afraid of deleting a file cause it'll delete from everywhere?

I've had Dropbox for years, but now, when I try to delete a folder, it gives me a message that it will delete it from all my devices.  Does that mean only the devices that have dropbox from those files or does it go into my devices and delete the originals?  I've never had a message like this???

It means the file or folder will be deleted from the Dropbox folder on all devices linked to your account. It can't delete a file or folder that exists outside of the Dropbox folder.
