I'm having trouble with some missing computer files

I started using dropbox but it has not been a very good experience... I wish it was. To make a long story short most of my computer files are gone. ..music, photos, desktop icons...you name it. It seems like space is the same on the laptop but the files are no were to be found. I tried restoring any deleted files from my account on dropbox.com but it still says my space is full and that it can't update until it synchs which I can't figure out how to do. I did have  a plus account but switched to basic since whenever I try and use dropbox on my laptop ...it becomes very slow and it is a good laptop. I had a lot of important stuff I worked on especially for my job. I really hope someone can help me and tell me any steps that could recover everything. I will try to keep an eye out for any replies and respond quickly

Dropbox is a folder on your laptop like any other. So first thing to do is find that and see what is in it. HOPEFULLY that should be all your files

I found them and got them back as i was waiting for an answer. thanks, even though someone replied to me well basically i hope any remaining files get deleted when i delete my account

WHAT IS DROPBOX DOING? They secretely STOLE all my files. I'm so frustrated right not. I had to use dropbox becuase a customer sent me a file and now all my work files are gone from my desktop. Some of them are on dropbox and I can't even find the rest. Luckily I back-up all my files a week ago on our corporate site, but SHAME ON YOU DROPBOX! BAD BUSINESS!!!!!!! And, needless to say, they have no technical support. Everything is on community board, which I have NO TIME to deal with right now. Dropbox, YOU'LL BE GETTING A VERY BAD REVIEW!!!!

I have the same problem and i infruriated with this crap service. I have search dropbox file, deleted files, i have tried to contact Dropbox but you cannot call anyone unless you upgrade. This really is daylight robbery. Is there any other way of finding my files...

Can you let me know if this happened when you installed the desktop app on your computer? Is it possible that the computer backup feature was enabled to backup your Desktop/Documents/Downloads folders?

Otherwise, can you check your events page here and see what actions you see for any of the missing files?
