Delete, edit, and organize
Solve issues with deleting, editing, and organizing files and folders in your Dropbox account with support from the Dropbox Community.
I am confused that when I open it up it says it can't sync any more because it's full, but actually I don't want it to be syncing stuff, I'd like to empty it so I can send some images to someone.
Hi @purplejulian, I hope you’re well!
If you check https://www.dropbox.com/home, have these files been deleted from there? If your desktop app has paused syncing, it may be better to delete your files directly via the Dropbox website and then, see if that makes any difference.
In case everything looks normal on your web account, I'd also suggest quitting and re-launching your desktop app to make sure the correct quota is showing there.
Let me know if you need further help, though.

If its full you need to delete what is in it before you can send more. Anything you see at www.dropbox.com/home uses your quota so make sure you have a copy of anything you need to keep and then delete it from that page. THEN you will be able to upload and send more

thanks, yes, I did that on my laptop, and all syncing is on pause. I hope it stays that way! but when I open dropbox from the icon at the top of the screen it still says it's full and I need to upgrade. which I certainly do not want to do, I pay for storage elsewhere. so dropbox seems to me a bit rogue, that in order to use it for transfers i have to have this app which wants to gobble up every screen shot I do and to try to back up my ipod (that is the main thing it had got stuck on, though I never asked it to do that). but strangely on my imac which is where the ipod gets connected drop box is perfectly happy and shows no signs of having tried to back up the ipod. very weird.

thanks very much! actually I have taken the app off everything, and will reinstall if someone asks me to send big files via it.
