I received an email saying I had deleted 2100 files, but I never intentionally did that. is this a scam?

Is this email coming from an official Dropbox Domain

 

Also, have you checked your deleted files page and the events page to see what might have happened?

I checked my deleted files with the Geek Squad Guy and he determined that they were revisions I had done to file which I then saved.  So the old files were deleted by the system.

The number of my files was still the same so I deleted the email.

 

I don't understand what the Events Page is doing, i.e. what's added is apparent, but what's deleted is a mystery when it's the same file.

Hi @Audrey S.4, it depends on what type of file you deleted. Certain file types are considered packages, which contain a lot of files inside them, so it's possible this could've been one of those files. 

 

Also, when a file a saved, depending on the program used, it could simply overwrite the file, or delete the original, and then save the file again, causing this deletion event.
