Lost edits from a Word document after uninstalling the Dropbox and Word apps from my phone

Was having an issue editing word documents on my Dropbox
I Deleted the Dropbox & word apps from iPad hoping it would help!
When I signed back in, 10 x months of work was lost from one of the documents, is it possible to retrieve ??

Do you know if your edits were ever saved to your Dropbox account?

If you open the file from our website, are you able to see your edits there? If not, try looking at the version history for the file as well.

It’s saying file was last edited September 2021, but Iv edited it every week since then, it makes no sense as other word docs in same folder have full edits..Iv 3 x affected files

Did you use the iPad to edit those files, or any other platform? 

If you check your events page for this specific file, what do you see there? When was the last change?

Hi Megan,

I edited the word document on my iPad using Apple Pencil and typing text!

File is not showing in events page!

I last edited it Sunday but it’s not showing on events.

It appears to have happened to the 3 x word files I edited with the pencil if that makes sense ?

Hi @Shaneoc1, when you're editing the file, does it say that the file has been saved to Dropbox at the top of the Word app after typing something?

What about when using the Apple Pencil?

Yes it said saved

Iv similar files that Iv written with Apple pencil & typed and no issue with them

It’s 3 x specific files iv lost content

If it says saved to Dropbox, then it should be on the site somewhere. 

There may be an issue with these three specific files somehow, if other files work fine.

Could you try making a copy of one of them, edit it via the pencil, and then see if those changes sync?

Tried that, copied file, edited with pencil but wouldn’t allow me to save edit
