Delete, edit, and organize
Solve issues with deleting, editing, and organizing files and folders in your Dropbox account with support from the Dropbox Community.
Hi, my account limit is 5,8 GB and after installing Dropbox on a new PC it somehow increased up to 6,6 GB.
I have erased all unnecessary data but still it shows like 6 GB...
I can see that all my folders are 3,7 GB (right click on properties). How can I release available space?
Did you also delete them from the Dropbox website? www.dropbox.com/home is what data is on your account and so what you are using?

Yes, I tried that one either, but I didn't help.
So what does www.dropbox.com/account/plan show? Does that show you using up nearly 6gb?
And nothing at all shows at www.dropbox.com/home that is not on Finder on your machine (note I have never ever known the website to be wrong on this).

Thank you, but...
I have 500+ items to delete permanently abut permanently deleting these items won’t free up space.
I am also attaching my plan page.
I was cruising about 5 GB for a long time (deleting unnecessary files eventually). But once I added new Mac to my account it showed 6,6 GB used. I have terminated 0,6 GB. But when I choose all my folder and files and rightclick at their properties it shows 3,7 GB total...
Firstly deleted files do not use quota, so, deleting wont have changed anything.
Also, syncing stops when you are over quota, so, the files on Finder are probably not all there - because you are over quota they've not all sync'd.
You'll be able to go in to folders and see/check that. When you added the new Mac that has uploaded things. You can see them at www.dropbox.com/events - you need to delete things from one Mac which is sync'd OR the website to get under quota again.

Thank you! Correct me if I am wrong - I need to take my old Mac and delete Dropbox files on its HD?
Wouldn't it lead to deletion of those files in my DP entirely?
You need to delete the files on Dropbox itself to get you back under quota - you can do that by taking the files out of the Dropbox folder, or, deleting directly on www.dropbox.com/home.
