Delete, edit, and organize
Solve issues with deleting, editing, and organizing files and folders in your Dropbox account with support from the Dropbox Community.
I have a user with an institutional Dropbox folder. I relocated Documents to be inside this folder and all was well for a while. Now I see there is a second institutionally-named Dropbox folder contained within Documents and a second Documents within it. It appears to contain files different from the real top-level Documents folder. But when I moved a file from this second Documents folder to the top-level one, it copied the file and didn't move it, which is not what I was expecting.
How might this behavior be explained?
Hey @mauricev, thanks for your post!
This is quite strange indeed.
Can you let me know how you originally relocated the Documents folder to be inside the Business Dropbox folder?
Did you enable our backup feature or did you move it through the OS settings?
Can you also send us a screenshot of how the top level Dropbox folder appears and how the nested one does?
Thanks.

I moved the Documents folder using the Location feature in Windows. We are not using the backup feature.
Here is the path.
Thanks for the update here, Maurice.
Do you have access to the computer in question, so that we can check what the location of the actual Dropbox folder is?
To find the location of the Dropbox folder, you'll need to go to the 'Sync' tab in the Dropbox preferences.

Here you go.
Oh, so if you were to open the second Dropbox folder, is it the one that has all the syncing icons, Maurice?
Only if you add files to that one, will they sync to the account, correct?
