No shared folders. Deleted everything. Still it shows that my dropbox is full...

No shared folders. Deleted everything. Still it shows that my dropbox is full...

I deleted all my files, and I exited from all shared folders...
...but it still it shows that I'm using 3.98GB of my dropbox for "regular files".

I have a Basic Dropbox account, and I'm only using Dropbox though the browser and I'm not syncing with any devices.

Is there a delay before Dropbox relize that I have freed up space?
Is it a deception from Dropbox trying to force me to uppgrade my account?
Or is there some kind of malfunction?

Hi @Aisch - welcome to our Community!

Since your account's plan tab reports that you're using 3.98 GB of space for regular files after you've deleted files and removed access from shared folders that were taking up space towards your account's quota, then there might be a 3rd party app specific folder that might be using this space up.

Can you see if there's a folder like that within your 'Files' tab on our website?

You can also have a look at the 3rd party apps that are connected to your account in the relevant tab under your account's settings.

Let me know what you find and we'll take it from there!

This solved my problem!
...how embarrasing :see_no_evil:

I had an automatic Wordpress backup connected to my Dropbox, but since the Wordpress page in question is quite modest I could in no way imagine that it could account for almost 4GB (!).

I'll have to investigate my Wordpress settings instead, and se if it has automatically stored hundreds of backups on my Dropbox instead of one :penguin:

Thank you for solving my problem so quickly! Heart

This is happening to me too. I have checked, checked and checked again...and STILL get the "need to upgrade" notice and I have deleted everything.

Hi @targs1212; welcome aboard and sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Can you please let me know what exactly is reported under your account's plan tab regarding your account's quota breakdown?

Also note that you can get your account under quota via the following ways:

  1. Upgrade your account – check out www.dropbox.com/plans for other information.
  2. Increase your quota using referrals bonuses or other promotions.
  3. Leave any shared folders or Spaces that put you over quota.
  4. Move files that don't need to sync out of your Dropbox folder.

I hope this helps and please keep me posted on your progress!
