Re-enable shared links from a deleted user account on Dropbox business.

Re-enable shared links from a deleted user account on Dropbox business.

Hi,

One of our team members left the company two months ago and their business Dropbox account was then deleted. There are a many reports that have been issued which contain shared Dropbox links (thousands of shared links) from this user. We are now aware that these shared links are tied to this user. The shared folders are not owned by the deleted user.

Is it possible restore his Dropbox account in order to enable these links again?

Is there a solution to enable these links to our shared business folder again?

Can we re-create an identical email and Dropbox account and add them to the Dropbox business team, will the links function again?

Any guidance or support is appreciated. Cheers

Hi @akash_bescanada

I'm almost certain that once the account is deleted all links etc. are also removed.

The only thing you could try is to RESTORE the account from your Admin control panel - not set up a new one RESTORE. If you do not have that option or doing so does not work there is no way, sorry, to recreate the links.

This is a big deal!  There needs to be something put into place for this in terms of off-boarding and link inheritance.  I can't tell you how many times this has bit us in the butt.

We are constantly contributing links to files, reports etc into brief documents and archive spreadsheets in google.  All kinds of things.

Our only work around is to copy the URL out of the browser URL field, assuming you are not using search to find the file (which changes the URL to a user centric search related link).  Otherwise, if you copy link from Finder or in web, using the dropbox function, it's a random string of text that is related to the user, that if deleted, becomes broken.
