Storage And Email

Storage And Email

webs
Helpful | Level 6

Newbie Question ...  I have signed up for a Basic Account (2 GB) Trial.

If I send a large (1.8 GB) file link to one recipient's email, do they only have access to that file as long as I maintain the link.

Does that mean I only have 2 options ...

Buy more Space (GB) to send another file to anyone

Delete the File and terminate the recipient's access to it ... in order to free up space

Any assistance would be most appreciated

They can keep the files your shared links point to as long as they download them before you delete the files or the links from your end @webs

Have you considered using our file transfer feature, perhaps?

Hi @webs, welcome to the Dropbox Community!

You're right in your remarks here.

In order for you to be able to add new files, and then be able to create shared links, you'd need to have enough space in your Dropbox account to begin with.

I hope that clarifies!

Lori ... Thank you so much for your assistance

WOW ... that means no one can keep anything I send without me paying for more and more storage

This does not sound very practical for my purposes

Again, thanks for your help

Is there any way to send a file to someone, have them download it, and then allow me to delete it from my dropbox ???

Walter ...  Thank you for that clarification.  (I should have worded my question better, because Lori's answer was completely correct based on my question)

The option for the recipient to download a file before a sender deletes it , is the perfect solution for me.
