I have a small hard drive a huge Dropbox. I want to put all 4 of my external hard drives into Dropbox. How do I do this?
I am now adding my voice to this as well. I have been a dropbox lover for years, but I am cancelling my subscription because it does not serve me well anymore.
I have small local storage and 1TB cloud storage, and the selective sync filing system i incredibly annoying and my files are all messy now.
Fix it dropbox - then I might come back.
I found this page while looking for alternatives to Dropbox that will play nice with removable drives. I've been using DropboxAHK as a sort of workaround, but it breaks frequently whenever Dropbox is updated. Almost like you don't want it to work......
I like that Dropbox works with my PC and my phone, but no support for portable drives is a huge omission. I keep waiting for this functionality that never comes......
Hey all. I see I am not the only one with the same issue. Many of the affordable "Ultra Books" out there still only have a limited "C" drive. Mine is down to around 79 GB, with all of my software and Apps...and with my full Dropbox folder carrying over 60 GB, my system is running very slow. I do however have a micro SD card slot available and just upgraded to an additional 256GB, in the assumption that I would be able to keep my Dropbox folder on my SD card. As with most people on this thread, I was very upset to find out that I cannot do so. This is a difficult problem to deal with when now I have more than double the memory of my entire system on my SD card and no space left on my C drive. I need to free up my C drive to run my system smoothly, but I cannot be without my Dropbox photo and video sync available for work when I travel on a daily basis. Often, I am in locations without any available Wi-Fi, so I have grown accustomed to working on my projects and then syncing them automatically later...but it is growing difficult to do this when fighting space limitations any occasional system crashes. Photoshop has serious lagging issues with my limited available memory. How can we resolve this Dropbox? Please come up with something.
I found that you can upload via the website. So the solution is I plug in my hard drive, and then upload large chunks of photos at a time. Works pretty well but would love a better solution.
I have the same problem, web solution is not good as the maximun amount of files is 3000 and I have more, is it to difficult for dropbox to have and uploader not a sync solution? that will only download the files on request? I pay to have my files on line not to dowload it to all my devices, with the actual amount of content generated this is a must, I am sending a note to dropbox for a termination of my pay account as this was the main intention of my account. If they refuce.. ok I will wait and then never ever renew.
Since my last post I have installed Boxifier and it seems to work properly with external drives. It is not a perfect solution, but it is worth checking out.
Too ad these issues not fixed
Great, so a feature that I believed to be available ( seems logical, how many people have 1TB drive) is not. Very disappointed by Dropbox. Apparently I need to have boxifier for something everybody expects by default.
+1 for this feature request. Including folders on external drives just needs to work. I would even be happy if Dropbox wouldn't delete previously uploaded, symlinked files from the cloud as soon as I disconnect my external drive and forgot to quite or pause dropbox before doing so.
