Tags and Dropbox App sunset date

I just saw this notification:

As of January 17, 2022, the Dropbox desktop app will only support File Explorer and the taskbar on Windows and Finder and the menu bar on Macs.

At my company we had just started a project to tag all of our files and folders with a system so we can find documents, photos, videos, files that are related to our products.

   Using the dropbox desktop app allowed us to search via tags we added on the web browser version.

But using the File Explorer on PC or Finder on Mac did not allow us to search tags we had added to files to our files on the web browser version. 

   Will this be updated somehow that the File Explorer or Finder versions will be able to search the tags we've added to files?

We just started pushing all of our users to use the desktop app or the web browser because tags weren't searchable using File Explorer or Finder, so now (presumably) they'll all have to use the web browser version in order to search tags.

Hi @BT_Dan - thanks for posting on our Community and welcome aboard!

For now, tags are only available on dropbox.com - you'll be able to use and search for them on our website normally, just like you presumed. 

I'll let you know if anything changes!

Are there any changes on this issue? Or any plans for correlating Dropbox tags with other apps/search engines in the future?
