Unable to edit Microsoft Document via Galaxy Tab A

Unable to edit Microsoft Document via Galaxy Tab A

StarPuppy

Hi all, I am having issues editing my document saved in my dropbox.

I have installed Office and Doc. Office has been connected to Dropbox.

I am able to open the file but once i pressed edit, the file opens in read-only mode.

Kindly advice how i can workaround this

Thank you

Hi @StarPuppy, thanks for messaging today!

Are you opening the file via the Dropbox mobile app to then be opened in Office, or are you opening it from Office directly?

Additionally, if the tablet is over 10.1" in size, then you'll need a paid Microsoft license to edit the files.

Keep me posted!

Hi @Jay,

I am doing both, I tried opening dropbox initially and then later tried via Office directly. Both faced same issues

I have a paid Microsoft Office subscription

What type of file are you editing? Is it in a shared folder with view-only access?

Could you forward a screenshot showing what you're experiencing, while hiding any personal info?

Hi @Jay,

I noted that i am able to edit in the main file but i cant edit my files in subfolders.

I have tried removing the read-only properties but the properties still apply

Kindly advice.

Thank you

Hi @Jay ,

Any updates for this fix?

Hey there @StarPuppy!

Could you just clarify for us if you have edit rights to the files within Dropbox? If the files are shared and you have only been given view rights to the files, then it would be expected that the changes you make in the properties revert back to read-only.

You can check the properties through Dropbox online by clicking the "Share" option for the file and looking to see if you have "Can edit/view" access.

Let us know what you find!

Hi @Daphne ,

Please see my screenshot however I should not be having such an issue as I am the only user. I have no issues editing on my PC and only face issue via Tab A. Thank you for your assistanceEdit access.jpg

Hi @StarPuppy, please could you forward a screenshot of exactly what you're seeing when editing via the tablet?

Additionally, is the paid Office subscription for an enterprise Microsoft account with a license that allows editing in Office Online (Business, Business Premium, ProPlus, E3, E4, or E5), or a normal Office 365 account?

Hi @Jay

It shows the readonly.

I have to share with my own dropbox email account so as to use it on the tablet.

Kindly advice.

Thank you
