hello,

i accidentally added another drobox to ours and now our dropbox and name are changed to theirs and they can have access to our dropbox

It sounds like you've joined a Business team account. When this happens, your account is merged into the business's account and, technically speaking, now belongs to the business. You need to have the team admin of the Business account convert your account back to an individual account. It's important that they don't simply remove you from the team. Doing so would delete your account and they would only have 7 days to recover it. They must convert your account back to an individual account.

ummm Hey @Dropbox this seems to be a bit of an issue... Can you change the way we add a client's Dropbox assets to our account or merge dropboxes because I don't even remember doing this and now its so difficult to undo!!! This is bonkers bad for us as a community--liabilities abound-- privacy issues-- yep those too!!!

Hey @smnyc, thanks for the nudge here and for your feedback.

 

Would you mind clarifying what happened? Did you add someone else's Dropbox account to your Dropbox Business team by mistake?

 

If that's what happened and you want to remove them from the team, the best way is to convert their account into a free individual account.

One of my clients sent me a folder with several large image files to work with and when I went to accept and download them into my dropbox it appears to have merged our two accounts. I need step by step instructions in order to unmerge the accts & maintain the integrity (and FILES!!) of my and my client dropbox. Does that make sense?

Hi @smnyc, are you a member of a Dropbox Business team now, or are you the admin of a Dropbox Business team? You can see from this page.

 

When a member of the team, only the team admin can remove you and convert it to a personal account away from the team.

Hi Jay, 

So Ive heard.. I don't even remember selecting or accepting that the Dropboxes be merged which is troubling. It shouldn't be that easy to do or this difficult to undo. I am working on it again this am.
