double pictures

Hi there,

I have a problem with Dropbox and don't know what I am doiing wrong. In the mean time I have now more the 350 thousand pictures in my content. Yesterday took a picture in my iphone and it appears for more then 10 times in my content. When I look for a picture in 2011 it takes me more then an hour to reache that date. How can i solve this. Is there a way to erase those double pictures. In the time there is more then 1 device connected to dropbox. perhaps that is the problem. I hope someone can help me.

Thanks

Ari de Kok

Hi @ari k., thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Did you manually upload the image to your account via the mobile app, or was it using the automatic camera upload feature?

This will help me to assist further!

Hi Jay, most of the pictures are uploaded by automatic camera upload.

Hi Jay,

I know, I made a mess in Dropbox for the last 10 years.

I want to reorganize it all by moving all the files to my Synology and then try to remove all the duplicate files. Because the dropbox works to slow. I saw there are now more then 300 thousand files in de Dropbox. And I think most of them are duplicates.

I synchronised the NAS with some of the dropbox files. After that I deleted the files from the Dropbox. But then I saw that they also removed again from the NAS 😞

Now dropbox is busy to set all those files back.

So I think I must try to make a backup from the files in the Dropbox.

Is that possible without using synchronise?

My problem is the synchronisation of files.

This afternoon I disconnected most of the devices from the dropbox. Now there are still 4 devices in use.

It depends on how your Synology was connected to Dropbox, since deleting from Dropbox wouldn't delete from a NAS, unless they were syncing to each other somehow, and not just a one-way sync.

Could you clarify what you want to accomplish now regarding the file sync?

Thank you Jay,
I set the syncing to one way, so now i can make a nice backup to the Synology and after that cleaning my Dropbox and reorganize everything in the NAS
The syncing was set on standard bidirectional. How stupid. But never to old to learn. 😉 thank’s and have a nice day!
