Solve issues with deleting, editing, and organizing files and folders in your Dropbox account with support from the Dropbox Community.
Hello!
I and some collegues are the only ones who have problem editing a word document in our group. it gets greymarked and inactive.
We have discussed it with the admin and got a new invitation but it worked one time and then it stopped working again.
What can be the problem?
Grateful for an answer.
Regards Eva
Hi there @Eva26, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Can you please clarify some things for me so that we can assist further?
1. Are you using individual accounts or a team account?
2. How exactly are you sharing the file(s) in question?
3. How are you editing the files? Is it on the website or through a 3rd party app or an integration perhaps?
If you could also send me a screenshot of how it looks like when grayed out and marked as inactive, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!

Thankyou Walther
1. Teamaccount where our leader invites us teacher by a link. Noone uses the app. Freeaccount.
2. The files are like an excelfile where we write our students and what they are going to play on a students concert. And they are saved automatically and then all the teachers can see and edit.
3I guess it is a wordwebsite that I am clicking in,but when edit( redigera in swedish: looks like a pencil on as quare comes up it is just greymarked not possible to edit. )
4. Sorry but do not know how to take photo with the computer. maybet I could send the screen shoot by mail from the mobile .

Hi @Eva26, do you notice this behavior with only one specific document?
Have you tried using a different browser, by any chance?
Also, I am guessing you have a Windows device, right? If so, here are the steps, as to how you can take a screenshot.

Hello Megan. Sorry my late reply. I will answer your questions.
I have chrome and microsft edge. But when we teachers use dropbox we use a link generally from a mail that our leader sends us on the school. So I cant know which browser is used so to say.
The strange thing is of a group of 15 people it works for 12 people and for 3 now it doesnt´t work. And even more strange it has worked before but now it doesn´t. I have only been writing in this similar to excelfiles and this is what the others are writing in and have problems the greymarking areas.
I am afraid this with taking a schreenshot was a bit complicated for the moment. Any ideas anyway are welcomed.
regards Eva Stockholm
Hey @Eva26, sorry to jump in here!
Can you please describe the steps you're following in order to edit this file, so that we can have an idea of the process you're following?

Hello Hannah!
mysterious, now when I went in on a link as before , it worked. But I would like to go to the bottom with the problem.
1. Open the worddocument
2.I see three icons above to the left"Download" in the middle "Open with word" and to the right "Add signatures"
3. I click on "Open with word" and I now could edit in it!!
But before it just looked greymarked and the same for my colleaugues .
So what do you say if it happens again?
Regards Eva
I'm glad to hear that everything works as it should now @Eva26!
Not sure what caused this behavior, but definitely keep an eye out, and let us know if you need anything else.
