For example, what is the exact problem you're having, what's your device's exact OS and which version of the desktop app are you running etc.

Mine, too. Some show what looks like a little hat to the left on the list, some say “data”, and some say there’s no extension, but how would I know what extension to add?
I am on an iPad Air, 4th gen, 14.8
gotta get my stuff, or there’s no point, right?

Mine are too. Everything says zero bytes.
I am running OS Monterey 12.5 on a MacBook Pro. I have 62 gigs available out of 250.
I have tried removing all synced folders and re-syncing some individually but it makes no difference.
Can you advise me as to next steps?

Thanks for the nudge here, @shamckenna.
If you right/control click on the files and choose the "make available offline" option, do the files get synced?
