Hey @needhelp81, thanks for posting to our Community today.

Is it possible that you have enabled our computer backup feature on your Dropbox application?

This would explain the notification you're getting.

If you don't want your desktop files to be backed up to Dropbox, you can disable the feature by following the steps here.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @needhelp81,

Once the content, you want to delete, is in sync you can remove it using Selective Sync. This feature will remove content from your local drive while keep it on the cloud (i.e. exactly what you want). You should NOT delete the content by hand!!! Such deletions will be kept in sync and content removed from everywhere. Take in mind that Selective Sync can be applied on folders only, not on individual files. You may need to regroup files, so the content you need to remove resides in separate folder(s).

Hope this helps.
