Delete, edit, and organize
Solve issues with deleting, editing, and organizing files and folders in your Dropbox account with support from the Dropbox Community.
I had to reinstall Dropbox on my laptop. Everything seemed fine until I got a message that my Dropbox was almost full. I looked at it and it had synced files from my laptop (desktop and documents) that I had never seen in dropbox before. I didn't want them in my dropbox so I tried to delete them but it deleted them from my desktop and documents which I did NOT want it to do and did NOT delete them from dropbox. So it still shows my dropbox being almost full even though I lost some documents from my laptop. I've set dropbox so that it no longer syncs those places but they still show up in my dropbox on the web. I do not want them there. How do I get them out of my dropbox without havint them deleted from my laptop?

While reinstalling Dropbox, you enabled the computer backup feature, which takes your Desktop, Documents and Downloads folders and moves them into the Dropbox folder so they can sync to your account online.
