.tmp file replaces original Excel file after editing

.tmp file replaces original Excel file after editing

I'm using Dropbox in 2 laptops interchangeably. I edited an excel file in one device, now the file is gone in both.
The excel file that I worked on was replaced with A125B775.tmp and DE7E7000.

HELP!

Welcome to our Community, @Sushi Mc

In general, .tmp files are files that are typically created for backup, storage or cache purposes by a program or operating system (in this case, Microsoft Excel). However, the .tmp file shouldn't replace the original one you were working on.

If you use the search bar on your web account, and look for the file based on its original name, are you getting any results?

If not, can you check the version history of the temp file that has been created, and let me know what you see?

Keep me posted.
