New DBX Platform feature: Directory Restrictions

New DBX Platform feature: Directory Restrictions

Dropboxer
Hello Developers,

We’re excited to announce that recently we shipped Directory Restrictions—a new setting that allows Dropbox Business admins to hide individual team members from the team contacts directory.

Admins can now add team members to a list of members with Directory Restrictions in the admin console or via the Dropbox Business API. Members who have been added to this list do not appear in the team contacts directory, which effectively hides them from the /team page and other team members’ (default) contact suggestions for sharing and commenting.  This is useful as some admins need to keep the identities of VIPs, service accounts, support admins, or external vendors out of sight from the rest of the team.

Dropbox Business admins can find the feature in the Settings page of the admin console.

For our developer audience, this feature is also available via the Dropbox Business API. The following endpoints have been modified:

These endpoints now accept a new parameter - is_directory_restricted (/add) and new_is_directory_restricted (/set_profile) that will set the directory restricted status for a Dropbox team member.

These endpoints will now return a TeamMemberProfile structure that contains a new is_directory_restricted field:

There are no changes in the number of members returned on those calls, only the additional flag.

Feel free to post here with any questions or comments you may have about this new functionality.
