Share App folder

Share App folder

Hello, this is my first time building an app for an internal project use. The aim is to integrate a shared space into a data pipeline so we can access files shared with us from a third party. We have granted that party access to our app so they also can integrate our Dropbox app folder into their pipeline and drop their stuff there.

The problem is that although in testing process we have put some dummy files and folders inside our app space, they don't see them. So as I understand, the app folder is not a common space for eveyone that have joined this app. We have also tried to make shared folders inside this space, but those are actually read only.

So, is there a way to make app folder a shared space?

Hi @mfVicom,

No, there is no such a supported way. App folder is supposed to be something very private, not as you might assume application specific across accounts. It just restricts the application full access and lets it access only one subfolder in users account, nothing more (so more security for the user - hack in your application cannot compromise the entire account).

Hm.. That's something strange. Such an application should not be able to handle any shared folder (including read only). Most probably you mean shared link to a folder.

To be able handle sharing, you need Full access Dropbox application type. So wipe out your current application configuration and recreate it anew with proper access (once the application is created, its type cannot be changed).

Hope this gives direction.
