Build a failsafe to prevent external drive disconnect from deleting your content

I know it is not recommended to use an external drive to sync files. However, when you're a business who uses dropbox for a substantial amount of data (in our case about 30TB at the moment), an external drive or series of drives is necessary. No internal drive will hold that much and the syncing feature is necessary, especially given that the "download as zip" feature fails constantly. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say an external drive system is essential to my team's workflow.

From time to time, the external drive might (will) become temporarily disconnected. (Heck, even an internal drive connection could fail.) When this happens, dropbox reads the action as the user having deleted all content. This is unacceptable. It's not just deleted internally for our team, it also causes clients to become upset wanting to know "what happened to our deliverables folder?!?!?" And all I can do is wait for dropbox to re-sync, which could take days.

When a user deletes something from a team space, the dropbox app gives a pop up: "you have deleted this folder. Do you want to delete it for all users? YES/NO."

Please build in a similar feature for when a drive becomes temporarily disconnected. It could be something like: "we noticed 100% of your data was just deleted. Did you do this on purpose or did the drive where your dropbox folder is located become temporarily disconnected?"

I also work with external drives and this would be very useful. It's frustrating (to say the least) having to sync huge amounts of data again.
