See what folders a user belongs to

See what folders a user belongs to

As an admin, I want to be able to easily see what folders a specific user belongs to. I'd love to be a be able to go to the "Members" page, click on a user, and then see a list of all the folders they have access to. If I need to partially reduce a specific users folder access, I would currently have to click "Share" next to each folder and look through who the members were. And even then, if they belong to a folder I don't, I won't know they are on it.

I'd also like to be able to change their permission and uninvite them to those folders from that same view. So, once I've opened the "Members" page, clicked on the user, and am looking at the folders they belong to, I'd want to be able to make edits from there.

I'd like to see this feature added as well.  The feature could be a check box that would say something like, "Remove this user/email from all shared folders owned by this account holder."

This would make it easier than hunting through all shared folders to find out which they have access to and which they don't.

How do I remove a contact from multiple shared folders at once? I can't remember which folders they have access to.

Hey @russthebear, this feature isn’t currently available, however that would be a great idea indeed! I could see that this has already been submitted by other Community members as a feature request, so I’ve made sure to move your post under the relevant discussion.

At the moment, you should review your Dropbox folder structure & remove the contact from the folders they should no longer access for each share separately.

Please let me know here if I missed anything or just in case you have any additional questions & I’ll make sure to touch-base with you soon. Thanks for checking in with us & enjoy the rest of your day!

Hey Dropbox Team,

This request has been out there for what looks to me like more than a year -- with no progress made.

It seems like you’re dragging your feet so that this will eventually be added to the Business account package, and then you will try to make everybody who wants it upgrade their accounts.

There’s been a couple of people already say that they are their ditching Dropbox altogether as a result – I’m pretty close to that as well.   This is my personal account, and I’ve used it actively to orchestrate a family reunion, plan a wedding, and even manage a bunch of playoff brackets with other weekend warriors I play with.  And I’ve read all of the comments – so I know I’m not the only one who feels this way.

So don’t you think it might be prudent to reconsider making the change -- sooner rather than later – to the basic account?  Because not only will I go elsewhere, but the small businesses I consult with are going to hear about how non-responsive you are on a daily basis.

Or are you determined to behave more and more like Microsoft every day?

Dear Dropbox,

There is a well-established need to be able to:

1. Identify every file that a particular person has access to

2. Have the option to remove a particular person from all files they have been given access to at one time

Why isn't Dropbox accommodating this request? Is there a problem?

Thanks

I literally joined this forum JUST to comment on this thread... I had a colleage leave my company who has access to over 30 folders and now I need to go folder by folder and search for his name. Please add this simple feature to DropBox!

What is upvoting an implementation?

Oh, I mean that you can hit the 👍 (thumbs up) button through the OP’s reply, as these votes are also taken into consideration @Brick. Please let me know if you have more questions!

We have many directories we share with clients that our outside our team.  When an employee leaves a client's employment we wish to remove their access to the Dropbox directories.  Is there a simple way to remove a person from all that has been shared with them?

Thank you in advance,
Andrew
