See what folders a user belongs to

See what folders a user belongs to

As an admin, I want to be able to easily see what folders a specific user belongs to. I'd love to be a be able to go to the "Members" page, click on a user, and then see a list of all the folders they have access to. If I need to partially reduce a specific users folder access, I would currently have to click "Share" next to each folder and look through who the members were. And even then, if they belong to a folder I don't, I won't know they are on it.

I'd also like to be able to change their permission and uninvite them to those folders from that same view. So, once I've opened the "Members" page, clicked on the user, and am looking at the folders they belong to, I'd want to be able to make edits from there.

@Jane

Thank you.  But apparently Dropbox isn't doing anything towards implementing this popular feature.  I guess I'll just go through our dozens of directories one-by-one, search for and delete the user.

Thanks for pinging me back @Andrew L.47! Kindly note that we’re submitting all requests for review to the relevant teams, however my advice pertains mostly to giving your comment a bit more visibility, as upvoted Ideas on the Community are reaching the right pair of eyes. While I can’t really comment on our team’s roadmap for future iterations on the Dropbox website, I’m here to ensure that your thoughts are passed up the ladder & especially the most popular ones are given a bit of precedence.

Removing a user from all shares at once isn’t an available feature at the moment, though I understand that you’d like to automate your workflow in this manner & I appreciate the time you’ve devoted in writing us about it here!

Hi all,

We have a need for this at our company as well.  To clarify what Jane is asking for if you want to see this feature request added to Dropbox they will need to see that more than just a handful of users requesting it.  Right now as of the time I am posting this there are only 6 thumbs up for this feature request.  When you think of all the 10's of thusands of people using Dropbox, that is a very small number.

If you are reading this and you want to see this feature added to Dropbox, please make sure you login and click the thumbs up button so that Dropbox will see that its a feature that many people are interested in.

IT IS REALLY A MUST FEATURE!!!!

I would DEFINITELY love to have this feature. For some reason, I thought Dropbox had it. I have been using Google Drive for the past few years and just started considering moving back to Dropbox for our primary file storage.

I think this feature is a no-brainer. Many here are busy entrepreneurs who do not have time to go folder to folder to delete an employee or a contractor who we trusted and shared folders or files with. In this era of job-hopping people who have lower integrity, it would be SUPER helpful to be able to search for a person's email and see all that has been shared with them, then delete their access.

I find Teams confusing and just wish I could share and unshare EASILY and swiftly.

The problem with only counting upvotes is I can only vote once.  But at least once a month – or whenever somebody replies to this string and I get an email update about it – I want to log in and press another thumb. Because it doesn't seem like writing another email is going to make any difference whatsoever. Which just moves me closer and closer to dropping Dropbox.

I'm not stupid, and I'm not a newbie.  I'm actually a very experienced technology manager -- who decides where to spend tech money in a pretty decent sized enterprise. And this is exactly the kind of "lack of" -- or "half-assed" -- response that would make me certain not put any more time or money into this product.

So JohnnyNYC will you go to google drive? I have been looking at Microsoft365. UGH. Why is it so hard?

Dropbox...this should TOTALLY be a feature. I really just do not understand why it's not. Can we hear from Dropbox about WHEN this "in progress" issue will be ready?
