See what folders a user belongs to

See what folders a user belongs to

As an admin, I want to be able to easily see what folders a specific user belongs to. I'd love to be a be able to go to the "Members" page, click on a user, and then see a list of all the folders they have access to. If I need to partially reduce a specific users folder access, I would currently have to click "Share" next to each folder and look through who the members were. And even then, if they belong to a folder I don't, I won't know they are on it.

I'd also like to be able to change their permission and uninvite them to those folders from that same view. So, once I've opened the "Members" page, clicked on the user, and am looking at the folders they belong to, I'd want to be able to make edits from there.

Hi @JacobRusso, this is only for team admins on a Dropbox Business team, since they technically own the team and have permission to view details about other team members.

If you're using Dropbox Plus, then it's a personal account so there aren't any 'members' as such, since only one person should be accessing the account.

However, if you're sharing the account credentials for a personal account with other users, this would violate the terms of service and could result in the account being terminated.

Hi @Jay ,

No, you misunderstood what I said completely.   We are NOT Sharing "CREDENTIALS".  We are sharing FILES, FOLDERS, and LINKS with other Dropbox users, EACH with their OWN accounts... and LINKS with possibly Non-Dropbox users.  This is ALL well within Dropbox allowed use.

The problem is that the ONLY way to see WHO we have shared FILES, FOLDERS or LINKS with is to check each FILE or FOLDER individually.

THIS is a MAJOR pain.   For example, 12 years ago, YES, we've been using Dropbox that long, I had shared some FILES and FOLDERS with my Ex-Wife and with my Attorney.  Well, guess what, I don't want EITHER of them to have access to those documents or folders.  But, since these were NOT all in the same folder, it took me four hours to hunt these down.

I am sure that there are many more, like this, that I have made available to others over the years.  I would like to know who I have shared files and/or folders with... and likewise... who has shared files and folders with me.

Best regards,

Jacob

Thanks for the feedback on this matter.

Since this feature is only available for Dropbox Business teams, you could suggest a new idea instead to have this option for personal accounts by creating a new thread here.

@Jay, Thank you for the suggestion.  But this feature has been requested MULTIPLE TIMES... going back to at least 2015...  There are MULTIPLE requests on that forum for pretty much the same thing.  As I said, I find it rather sad that a company with such amazing people... with the brains and capability... have not addressed such an important issue.
