+1 +1 +1 I need to open the dropbox paper documents when I am in a plane, or a place where there is no internet. This inability is prohibiting me to read my important documents when I need them most (in fields with no internet). I am not sure why would you release offline version on iphone and android but not on PC and mac (and linux). Can't you just open the app using the project catalyst?
Hoping this idea is being worked on. Offering offline functionality has speed benefits too:
With google docs, it seems to sync a bunch of files offline - so when I open them in the web app they open a lot faster than Dropbox paper. When my internet is slow, paper takes some time to open files as it first connects, downloads, then displays. Docs just displays them, and updates them later once it connects to the internet.
I was working on a document a few minutes ago on the desktop app and it just lost my conection (it says no dropobox account found - even tough my internet connection is fine). I'm really losing time with it.
Please make the desktop app work with offline files!
Paper is an amazing tool for taking notes in a meeting, or at a conference.
However, I'm not currently using it.
Why not? Because I'm often at a client's office, or at a conference, without a reliable internet connection. I simply can't take the chance that my notes will become unavailable during a meeting.
It would be perfect if Paper had the ability to work offline, cache the data, then sync when an internet connection becomes available.
I'm actually surprised this isn't built-in already - Dropbox were the original pioneers of online/offline file syncing!
Also, can the Mobile version have a better offline mode?, having to toggle off Wifi and cell data just to have the app use the cache is quite clunky, plus it dosen't seem to cache all the docs on a reliable manner
Would love offline support. It is really the thing that prevents me from using Paper
If I can only access with wifi kind of useless to me as I am in offline situations all the time. Makes hard making DB effeciently since you can only add notes thru Paper (not DB as you can only store with main app). To use need wifi
Please, let's get with the program. DB was one of the pioneers with sync. If offline in unavailable its only useful if you sit in an office all day
This would be such an improvement for my work as a student and creator! Despite our always-online world, there are moments when internet isn't available. A word processor without an offline mode is an incomplete program, in my opinion. I'm considering a DB Plus subscription and have already started using Paper, but the lack of an offline editing option for PC is holding me back 😞
Another community member also brought this up and is wondering whether Paper is still being supported by the devs...
