Sync Paper docs to desktop as Markdown

New member | Level 2
New member | Level 2

When I look in my Dropbox folder using the desktop application, all my Paper docs are just JSON files containing a URL. It would be quite helpful if '.paper' files on the desktop contained the actual document text, formatted in Markdown.

If this idea can't be implemented, please at least release the Paper desktop app on Linux.

I think the suggested idea to sync the real paper document would be very good.
The use case, I want to make backups of my folders, documents, etc. Therefore, just coping a json with a url is no real backup for me :-(

Great idea! It's exactly the missing link in a worflow integrating other MD capable apps like iThoughts, Scrivener, etc.

A usable implementation could be a seperate .md file containing realtime updated markdown from the actual Paper doc. So plain text containg basic syntax including images and 'embeded' Dropbox files as formatted links.

Maybe MultiMarkdown (.txt) is required to include and maintain additional features of Paper. Some parts could be kept hidden and thereby unmodified by 3th party apps. Besides that, MMD seems to be better suited in a rich formatted document workflow.
